Introduction
Welcome back!
Lent term has started with fabulous energy and positivity.
I am delighted to have been appointed as Headmistress of the Prep School and look forward to meeting you personally at one of the Prep School events. It has been wonderful interacting with the pupils this week and sharing their enthusiasm for school and enjoyment of learning. I spoke to the pupils at our first assembly on Wednesday about setting goals and taking responsibility for their learning and personal growth. Goals ensure incremental change throughout the year. In form time today, the pupils set themselves 2 goals for the term – one academic and one personal. Please take time to ask them about their goals and help them chart their progress which we too will be doing at school. I shared my own goals with the school and will be updating them on my progress.I have very much enjoyed many conversations with the pupils this week who are keen to know if I miss the Australian sun and to tell me that despite being English, have an Aussie twang. They have all been particularly welcoming and I feel very much part of the community already. A very warm welcome is extended to the four new girls this term Maisy, Molly, Sophia and Anya as well as their families.
I firmly believe that children need to sense a positive and healthy relationship between their parents and school. It provides them with a sense of security which is a foundation for good learning. I look forward to fostering this over the coming months and years. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if there is an area you wish to discuss via email at prep-head@wellingboroughschool.org or telephone Prep Office 01933 222698.

Annual Ski TripThis year’s ski trip was another brilliant trip and, although the weather was very warm and felt more like skiing at Easter than in late December, the snow conditions were very good. The children made huge amounts of progress, especially the beginner's group of Lawrence Leslie-Carter, Alex Brunet-Huntingford and Archie Filios. We also had great fun off the slopes with a very competitive bowling night; a cultured evening at Innsbruck market as well as an educational quiz in which the children managed to beat both the parents and the staff teams! A huge thank you to all the children and parents for their enthusiasm and constant smiles throughout the trip. Also to Ms Machin and Mr Richardson (aka Sat Nav) for their energy and support. We are already looking forward to next year and information will be available soon. More photos can be viewed on twitter @WboroPrepSchool.

Music School Parents' Evening
The Music School Parents' Evening is on Tuesday, 12th January from 5.30pm to 7.00pm in the Music School Recital Room. It provides an opportunity for parents whose children are taking individual music lessons at School to talk to their teacher. We will not be operating an appointments system, so please come along any time between 5.30pm and 7pm when the following teachers will be present, unless indicated.
Mr J Bowman (piano)
Mrs K Cartwright (flute)
Mrs S Healey (piano/theory)
Mr T Jones (drums)
Mr A Kershaw (lower brass)
Mr S O’Gorman (saxophone/clarinet) (6pm-7pm only)
Mr P Slane (singing)
Mr A Turner (violin/viola)
Mr S Walton (upper brass)
Mrs K Whitelaw (piano)
Unfortunately the following teachers are unable to attend: Mrs Astill (‘cello), Mr Hamper (drums), Miss Hooper-Roe (singing) and Mr Learmouth (guitar). If you would like to speak to any of them, or if you are unable to attend and wish to speak to any other teacher, please contact Mrs Burleigh on 01933 233469 or by email on eab@wellingboroughschool.org, and she will ask the teacher in question to get in touch with you.
Young Voices, Friday 15th January
The Young Voices event is now fast-approaching. Details of final arrangements are being emailed to parents this week. Tickets and T-shirts will be ready for collection from Prep Office from the end of school on Friday, 8th January. We would be grateful to have some parent volunteers to assist members of staff in accompanying the children on the trip. This would mean travelling with the choir, leaving School by coach at 12.00pm - returning at about 11.00pm and helping to supervise the children in the arena for the duration of the event. If you would like to help, please email Mrs Burleigh on eab@wellingboroughschool.org.
Chapel Choir - Civic Service
Chapel Choristers will be singing at the Civic Service on Sunday 17th January, in the School Chapel. There will be a rehearsal at 10am with the Wellingborough Community Gospel Choir. The service starts at 11am and should end at about 12 noon.
